SPANISH 4: CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN
VIII. CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS, POLICIES & PROCEDURES
ALL PCHS and LSC expectations apply to this class! Your attitude and willingness to speak in Spanish during class will determine your success. I have set very high expectations for each of you and believe you will go above and beyond them. This is an Honors-level course, so you will need to budget extra time to ensure your success. You will work hard in this class and we will also do many fun activities while learning the language.
A. Respect: Respect the rights and property of myself and of your classmates by showing appropriate care of this room and its contents and by being sensitive to the needs and values of others—this includes thoughts, opinions, and answers. Students may not infringe on other students’ right to learn or the teacher’s right to teach.
Violation #2 - Detention
Violation #3 - Detention and loss of privilege to take device home for the period of 20 school days.
B. Belong: Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings or you will be marked tardy. Remain in your seat until the dismissal bell rings. *3 tardies = 1 absence & detention.
C. Prepare: Bring all required materials and assignments to class each day. Supplies include textbook, 3-ring binder, tab dividers, writing utensils, a highlighter, verb sheets and a pocket folder.
D. Participate: Speak Spanish first and as much as possible. Get your hand up! Volunteer! Participation in Spanish class is absolutely necessary in order to reach the goals listed on the first page of this syllabus. We learn Spanish by speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Set your minds on Spanish when you enter this class; do your best to be interested in the materials and activities, and participation will become natural.
*Students need to remember that they may earn up to ten credits through Lake Superior Community College in taking this course. Work ethic must reflect that of taking a college class, and credits will not be earned for less than C grade.

Each assignment is meaningful. It is important to make the effort to get each one in and to your advantage to get it in on time. Keep returned assignments until the quarter ends to prepare for tests and as evidence if any discrepancy arises between your records and the grade book.
Scholastic Honesty: Students are responsible for maintaining scholastic honesty in their work at all times. Students engaged in scholastic dishonesty will be penalized and their name may be reported to the Dean of Lake Superior College as well as the administration at Pine City High School. Scholastic dishonesty includes cheating on assignments or exams, plagiarizing, submitting the same or substantially similar paper, sabotaging another’s work, and unauthorized collaboration on assignments or exams. Scholastic dishonesty will result in either an F for the assignment or an F for the course. *Use of ONLINE TRANSLATORS for more than individual words is also plagiarism.
Attendance: Students will not be penalized for 12 absences during the semester due to unavoidable or legitimate circumstances. Such circumstances include verified illness, participation in intercollegiate athletic events, subpoenas, jury duty, military service, bereavement, and religious observances. Such circumstances do not include voting in local, state, or national elections. In these or legitimate cases otherwise not listed, the makeup requirements are as listed below.
Class attendance is essential and the biggest factor to your success in class. Each absence is your responsibility. You should contact another student and speak with me if you have further questions. Always contact someone before you come to the next class session so you can complete any assignments given the day you were gone. It is your responsibility to be an active participant at all times. Poor attendance may result in loss of college credit and will result in a grade reduction. Students should not go over 12 total absences per semester for college credit in this class; this includes School Authorized activities and absences. For those who do go over, every 3 days after the 12 days maximum will result in a ⅓ grade reduction (example B+ will be dropped to a B).
Homework: Students must have each homework assignment completed before class and with them on the assigned due date. Students should place assignments in the appropriate class basket on my desk upon entering class. If a homework assignment is handed in 1 day late, the student may receive partial credit, but after that no credit will be given.
Make-Up Work: Make-up work is your responsibility and is only available for excused absences. On the day you return to class, it is your responsibility to turn in anything or take any tests/quizzes that you were assigned before your absence. You will have 1 day per day absent to complete work assigned while you were absent.
Projects: Students must have each project completed before class and with them on the assigned due date, otherwise the project will be considered late. If a project is handed in late, the student will lose one letter grade for each day late.
Grade Status: Parents and students are encouraged to check grades regularly by accessing Synergy ParentVUE or Synergy StudentVUE online.
Schedule: The tentative class schedule, including all required assignments, will be given to you quarterly and will also be available in Google Classroom.
